If you have multiple sensors reporting the same data type, such as heading or location, you can select which sensor to use inside Orca. To do so:
Connect to your Core
Open Main Menu > My Boat > Connected Devices
Tap on the name of the device that you want to use
When a device is selected, the relevant instruments will use that single device as its source.
Some sources, such as tanks and batteries are always selected.
In this case, you can create instruments that rely upon each individual sensor.
Sensor selection is synchronized between your devices automatically. When changing sensor on a device, it may take up to two minutes for the change to propagate to your other devices.
What happens in my selected source goes offline?
Orca (both the Core and the App) will use whatever sensor you have selected while it’s available. If that selected source stops reporting, Orca automatically falls back to another available source; the most appropriate one will be chosen - either Orca Core's built-in sensors or another device on the network.
When the primary source comes back online, Orca will recover and resume using that selected source.
This fallback logic applies to all sensors that require a unique selection, such as location, heading or depth.
