Orca allows you to select three heading options:
GPS course
Compass
Both of these sources simultaneously
What aim lines do I see on the chart?
The aim lines you see depend on the heading option you choose
Heading: This shows where the bow of your boat is pointed. It is always used when the Compass source is selected, but only for GPS Course when Speed Over Ground is above 2m/s
Course Over Ground (COG): This shows the boat's actual direction over the seabed, taking into account currents and wind
The chosen aim line appears as a solid black line:
What happens if I select Both?
If you select both sources, COG is shown as a solid black line, and Heading as a faded gray line:
