How do I change units in the Orca App?

You can choose which units Orca uses for measurements such as distance, speed, depth, temperature, wind, and pressure.

Your selected units are used throughout the Orca App where the relevant measurement is shown.

How do I change units?

  1. Open the Orca App.

  2. Navigate to the Main Menu.

  3. Open Settings.

  4. Go to Units.

  5. Select the unit you wish to use for each measurement.

What units can I select?

Here is a list of the measurements and which unit can be selected.

  • Coordinates:

    • Decimal Degrees (DD)

    • Degrees, Minutes, Seconds (DMS)

    • Degrees and Decimal Minutes (DDM)

  • Temperature:

    • Kelvin (K)

    • Celsius (°C)

    • Fahrenheit (°F)

  • Speed:

    • Metres per second (M/S)

    • Kilometres per hour (KM/H)

    • Knots (KTS)

    • Miles per hour (MPH)

  • Wind Speed:

    • Metres per second (M/S)

    • Kilometres per hour (KM/H)

    • Knots (KTS)

    • Miles per hour (MPH)

    • Beaufort Wind Force Scale (BFT)

  • Distance, Depth and Height:

    • Imperial (MI)

    • Metric (M/KM)

    • Nautical (NM)

  • Heading Reference:

    • True

    • Magnetic

  • Atmospheric Pressure:

    • Hectopascal (HPA)

    • Kilopascal (KPA)

    • Pascal (PA)

    • Bar (BAR)

    • Pounds per square inch (PSI)

  • System Pressure

    • Hectopascal (HPA)

Where are these units used?

Your unit settings affect measurements shown across Orca including areas such as:

  • Charts

  • Instruments

  • Weather

  • Spots and Routes

  • Navigation information

Units synchronise between your devices via the internet.

Magnetic declination is currently not supported for Course over Ground (COG) and Course to Steer (CTS).
