How do I import or export GPX files in Orca?

Orca supports importing and exporting GPX files.

  • When importing or exporting to GPX, GPX Waypoints will be saved as 'Spots', whilst GPX tracks will be saved as 'Routes'.

  • In the Orca App, they can be seen in the 'Spots and Routes' section

How do I import a GPX file?

  • iOS and Android: From the application you want to share from, share the GPX via the standard share menu and select Orca as your share destination

  • This screen will appear:

  • MacOS: Right-click the GPX file and select Open With > Orca

  • If an imported route has more than 300 waypoints, Orca will split it into separate routes

  • For example, a route with 400 waypoints will be split into one route with the first 300 waypoints and another route with the final 100 waypoints

  • The divided routes will be displayed as Route Name (1/2), (2/2) etc

  • This simplification will allow you to import past-travelled tracks

If you are importing routes with more than 300 waypoints, always validate the route after import to Orca
